Easy SSlyth Conversion

Ever since the dark eldar were updated, I have wanted a squad of these guys.  I love the thought of four armed, snake-men.  I like the finecast model, but monopose for a unit of over 2 doesn't work for me.  I built these from original metal tyranid ravener bodies.  I cut off most of the large tail blade they have.  I also trimmed the width of the top of the ravener snakey tail, where I glued the first set of arms, to fit with the width of the dark eldar waists.  The metal was nice to work with, because I was able to bend the tails around to give each one some of its own character.  You will recognize other bits from dark eldar warriors, shard carbines from the scourge kit, dark elf weapons, harlequin weapons, wyche weapons, hellions and even a sword from the shining spears kit.  

Dark Eldar Aberration with Scissor hand WIP

I decided my aberration needed a new scissor hand, and I need to finish the paint job on this squad once and for all.

I used the end of the raider horizontal sail arm, and a vambrace blade off of the dark eldar warrior sprue.  I bent the end of the blade to hook down.  The hand is from a tyranid warrior, with the thumb cut off. 

 I was really trying to copy the awesome scissor hand on the wrack sprue.

 The squad almost finished.  Still a little work to go.

Wraithlord Complete

Finally finished my wraithlord.  I have always loved this model, and love the poseability of it.  I magnetized the guns, so I can switch them out.  I am glad the sword is worthwhile again.

WIP Dark eldar Grotesque Unit

Here is a pic of my progress on the Grotesque squad.  I've since added some orange, and some Nihilakh wash on the copper.  I hope you like them.

 The abberation is missing his magnetized left arm.  He had a Ichor injector which I was using as a scissorhand.  My corpse thief claw formation stole the Ichor injector.  I need to make a new scissorhand.

 Real fish hooks.  Careful moving him.

Custom Dark Eldar Cronos

Here is the latest creation, a cronos to support my corpse thief claw formation.  I am excited to try out the formation tonight. This is the most complete pic.  Still need some green stuff.  I was going for a squid/mosquito hybrid.

Venom Mark I Retrofitted

Here is my original Venom I converted from an Eldar Vyper.  (Original link  Venom Mark I)
After the official version came out, I decided I needed magnetized over/under splinter cannons.  I Got the parts off of ebay, and got to work.  The gunner has the wyche legs and warrior body.  I found the right size drill bit, and drilled a hole for the splinter cannon peg.  The gunner also has a small magnet on her left foot to hold her to the venom.

The gun underneath is from the venom kit.  I glued a larger magnet in place below the venom, and then put a cutout, round piece of sheet metal on the gun mount, so that it will stick to the magnet, and not take up too much room.

 I have been using a 50/50 mix of white glue and water for my decals.  I place some glue water mix where I want the decal, cut and soak the decal for 30 secs, and then place it.  I then use a paint brush to remove the extra glue, and put some glue over the top of the decal with a paint brush.  The Broken Sigil on this side went on well, not so well on the decal below.  May have to paint over the white areas you can see above the skull.

Dark Eldar Grotesque Conversions - Work in Progress

I got the original idea from Eye of Terror at this post Grotesques. 
These are a lot of fun to make.  I tried to think about what I would least like to get attacked with, and came up with these weapons.  I got the idea for the first guy from the latest Sherlock Holmes movie.  Great movie.  Hooks = Ouch.

This guy is my least favorite, and will probably get a change. 

Here is the aberation with a scissor-hand.  It is magnetized in case I want to switch out his weapon.  

 I like the way this guy turned out.  He will have a wych braid of hair out the back.

 For the liquifier grotesque, I wanted it to look like he had a great vat of disgusting stuff on his back that he was spraying out of the liquifier.  I may put enemy parts out the top of it, as though he is blending them up and spraying them on his foe.

 

 And a family shot with the half-painted wrack cousins for scale.

 They still need some work.  All of their heads are held on with plasti-tac, and I am debating on making a meat backpack for them.  I kinda like them the way they are, but like what Lucky 5 did over at eye of terror.  Thanks again to lucky for sharing the idea.  He is the mastermind behind these guys.

Talos WIP part 1

 

Here is my latest creation.  I felt like if any 40k model would be unique, it would be the talos.  I liked the floating original, but wanted a Talos with legs.  I thought that the Haemonculi designers would like the talos on stilts.  I could see them laughing when the monstrosity fell over, and struggled to get back up on its pointy feet.  He looks kinda like an attack chicken.  I will definitely magnetize the tail and arms. 

 

 You can see he has borrowed some painted parts from his finished brother.

 And he is half held together with plasti-tac.  Great stuff.

 I may move the tail gun up to a shoulder mount on a smaller tentacle, and add the chronos tentacles out the back.  I like that look a little better than having the large talos tail with the gun on it. 

And next to the original.  He is a bit taller which is bad for gaming, but I like the look of him.  I have switched around the magnetization and build of the original a little. He's almost done painting.
